Okay, so some of you know I’ve been trying to explore different options and ways to supplement our income here at home and still be here with the kiddos. It’s hard to get anything done with a newborn…. or any kids for that matter but like I said…. just exploring the options. It’s absolutely necessary that I enjoy it as well or it won’t work. I know that about me. It won’t last if I’m not into it 110%. So I was thinking about how several years… okay MANY years ago I was making some dang good money on Ebay making paper piecings for scrapbooking. I was always shocked at how much some women would actually spend on some embellished papers. Soooooooo… just now I went on Ebay out of curiosity to see what’s up in the world of paper piecing these days and look what I found.
CHECK OUT THIS ONE SELLER’S PAPER PIECING AUCTIONS!!!
This is completely jaw-dropping insane to me. This chick’s 4 tear bear pieces are going to net her a MINIMUM (she has several days left on a couple of them mind you) of $903.50. ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!!!!! Ummmmmm….. is there something wrong with people or is it just me? I mean that amount of money could fuel our vehicles for a flippin’ YEAR! Oh wait….make that a month.
Not that I expect to EVER clear over $100.00 on a stinkin’ layout with bears on it (and I wouldn’t even attempt those anyway… they kinda creep me out) but GOOD HEAVENS!!! I’d be a sucker not to try and get a slice of the pie right? Geesh. I don’t know.
And whoever it is that’s about to spend over $290.00 for THIS should be committed.

When I see auctions like this, I always think that they have ‘help’ with the bids. Then I stop looking because my respect for the person is gone.
But Shanna, I am sure you will get every penny you deserve when/if you put your heart into paper piecing on ebay. Your stuff ROCKS!!!

Notice that most of her closed auctions have all of the same names? She either has made up some other accounts or has “friends” helping up the ante. Also, the pictures have been deleted from previous auctions. I don’t know why someone would put so much effort into making it look like her layouts are worth HUNDREDS, but maybe it makes her feel really good?!?!
Don’t get me wrong…I think YOU would do well at listing on Ebay. You do fab work. But I think this example is some nut job! Just guessing!!!

There is also a lady named Glynda (do a search for GLR on ebay) and she always rakes in a tidy profit on her paper themed stuff.
I once saw a bandaid tin of hers with 8 mini cards go for almost $100.00

you have got to be kidding! don’t you think it’s sooo strange when people who aren’t into scrapbooking or crafting and stuff think that it is worth crazy amounts of money??! i’m sorry but there are some amazing people who do great things with paper but i would feel soooo bad ever letting some poor fool (well im sure they arent poor spnding money like that) pay me that much for something like that!!!! i just couldnt do it! anyways i also say do it! i don’t have any kind of confidence to think i could sell anything but i’d love to watch you suceed!!
