This is one of those things as a parent I NEED to mention/blog so I will remember this years down the road. It certainly tugged at my heartstrings this morning. So my sweet Bailee woke up in an exceptionally good mood today. (I’m sure it has everything to do with the fact that there’s only 3 days left of school. HA HA!) ANyway, she came into the living room where I was awake feeding Brody and hugged me and told me she loves me and she’s happy I helped her come into this world. Then she proceeded to tell me how lucky she was that she has 5 parents who love her.
“Five parents?” I asked.
“Yes Mom” she said, “My Heavenly Father loves me too.”
“of course He does Bailee…silly me!”
Is that the sweetest conversation ever? It’s times like these that show me that our Heavenly Father loves me too! Going through a divorce and worrying about how it will affect your children short-term and long-term is by far the most difficult part of it all. I am truly blessed that SO FAR my girls have adjusted well. All I ever want for them is to feel and know they are loved. Somedays I feel like I fall short. Thank heavens for sweet and gentle reminders that I must be doing something right.

Awww, that is so sweet. Alot of times the reminders we need do come from our children…they teach us so much. I also worry about children/divorce and the effects. I can only hope that in situations like that, that Heavenly Father watches out for them that much more. Kids are pretty resilent and with love and attention, I think they will turn out just right.

You will be grateful you wrote this down when she hits 12 and is grouchy from hormones! You can look back and remember and then remind her so she can remember!

Good gosh, I’m almost in tears over here. That’s amazing that they know so young who they are and they’re children of God. Hopefully she never forgets that her Heavenly Father loves her.

Shanna, I have said it before and I will say it again - you are such a great example to me and others!
Obviously you are doing a great job, as a mother, to help your children remember who they are and who loves them.
That is a great story, and I am glad that you shared it with all the world!
