Whatcha Dern?
I know this is silly but this phrase just makes me laugh. Back before I started having children I used to work with a guy that was from Louisiana and he could never say “doing”… it was always “dern”. And it stuck. Now I can’t say it without giggling. It was funny to say it in Arizona cause no one talked like that there so they knew you were teasing or playing around. Here in the South? Not so much! HA HA HA! Now when I say it and giggle I’m the only one laughing.
ANYHOO….. on to announcing the winner of my patterns contest. Every last creation was AMAZING and we had a HARD time choosing a winner so thanks to everyone who played!
Drumroll please…..

Dontcha just wanna eat this little man up? Today is his 6 month birthday! And such a fun 6 months it’s been! He squawks and talks at us like crazy now. He’s got two big bottom teeth. He loves running around in his walker and he jumps non-stop in the Johnny Jumper. He laughs like crazy when we tickle him and he is ticklish EVERYWHERE especially his back. I can’t even begin to tell you how much joy this boy has brought into our home and his Mommy & Daddy’s hearts. We are truly blessed to have him in our family full of girls! Prince Brody! Love him to pieces! And this photo? I took it in our backyard today! I am no photographer but I am IN LOVE WITH THIS PHOTO!!!! LOL Can’t wait to scrap it!
Okay! Anymore players in the “use my patterns” contest??? You have a little more time left! Until Midnight (Central) tomorrow night! I am sooooo excited about what I have seen so far! Seriously you gals are blowing me away with all your fabulous creations! I don’t know how on earth we will be able to pick a favorite! I will announce the winner by Sunday night so keep checkin’ in! Thanks for playing! It’s so fun to see my patterns come to life in so many different ways!
Call me crazy… but I love the exclamation mark!!!! LOL I just realized for the thousandth time how much I use that thing. Periods are sooooo…. boring. LOL

First I gotta tell ya what an exciting night of soccer we had last night! Bailee has had at least 3 games so far this season and had yet to score a goal in any of them. I have to admit that my expectations weren’t too high because she hasn’t had near the experience as the other girls on her team plus she’s one of the smallest and youngest. Kacie scores just about every game and is super quick and good…. she’s been playing for several years! She’s exciting to watch! Cassidy scores at least one goal a game too! She’s taller and almost quicker than the other girls on her team! She LOVES soccer! Macey LOves it too and has so much fun playing but has gotten a little discouraged watching all her sisters score and it hasn’t happened to her yet. But it will. She definitely tries hard and that’s all I want to see as a parent.
Anyway, I’ve been watching Bailee in her practices and can’t believe what a different player she is verses playing in a game. Almost like she gets stage fright or something. In practice she is a MACHINE and scores and dribbles past her experienced teammates. It’s been CRAZY to me that she HASN’T scored any goals in a game. Her coaches told her at the last practice that if she were to play as hard in a game then she’d be scoring goals left and right. Well… guess what happened last night? Their team tied 6-6 and Bailee scored 3 of her team’s goals plus got an assist! It was sooooooo exciting for me to watch her get a taste of that rush that comes with competitive sports! She was an animal last night! I wish I had video taped it! Okay…. enuff of the proud parent stuff. Pretty cool though I have to say.

…………And this “Daddy’s Boy” layout just might be my all-time favorite. I’m in love with it. It has my two favorite men in the world on it. What’s not to love? HA HA! I created this for the Sewing Feature on the Bo Bunny Blog. There is some super awesome creations posted over there.
I machine stitched as well as hand-stitched on this layout. The little baseball on the layout was inspired by the ball on Brody’s outfit. And I hand-stitched the stitches on the baseball! FUN STUFF! Then this card was fun too! I wanted to make a stitched border on it so I used the light blue thread and tightened up the zig-zag stitch on my machine. Easy Peasy! Try sewing on some projects! It’s a lot easier than it looks and you can practice as much as you need to on some scraps! Just have fun with it!
So the Scrap Pink Crop was a lot of fun over at Create My Keepsakes this weekend! I can’t believe all the amazing work and projects that were created because of it! Well done ladies! Now that it’s over I can share my project here with you. Some of you have seen me make several of these over the years. Maybe you’ve even received one as a gift! They make AWESOME gifts! And with Christmas coming… here’s a fun idea! I won’t post all 365+ questions that go in the jar here. If you want the word doc with all of them on it then shoot me an email at shannavineyard@comcast.net and I will send it on to you.
If you have any questions whatsoever about this project PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t hesitate to post it here in the comments. Chances are that someone else may have the same question! I am not the best at explaining myself so please forgive me! I will respond in the comments as well. Here Goes!
***OH! And if you don’t want to MAKE one of these yourself but you’d really love to give one as a gift…. I am putting this in my Etsy Shop to sell WITHOUT the jar but everything else is included. If this ones sells then shoot me over an email and I can make a custom one for you no problem!
Personal History jar & journal.
The jar I used for this is a large 9 inch jar I got at Michael’s for $1.99. Feel free to use any other kind of container or jar…. This is your project! Same with the album. Use what you have around the house or go buy something special. Mine is just your basic 8×8 chipboard album.
**All you need to do is create/alter the front of your journal.
**Create a tag like the one shown here to add to your jar. (the wording I used on the inside of my tag is included in the word doc I can email to you when you request it)
***The questions just get copied onto colored paper (see my jar). Cut each question onto it’s own strip of paper so you can use a pencil like I have pictured below to curl it up and throw it into the jar. (This is the most time consuming part. I printed and cut the questions into strips then sat on the couch and watched one of my shows as I curled the strips and threw them into the jar! Or you can even crumple them up if you would rather not curl! Remember… this is YOUR project)
I have made many of these over the years for family & friends. They make wonderful gifts and it’s an awesome way to get your OWN PERSONAL HISTORY started. I love how interesting all the questions are. Things I never would have thought about that someday my kids and grandkids will appreciate knowing about me.

I can’t even believe the love I received in the mail today. Look at these “Tweet” (sorry… couldn’t help myself) birdy stamps will you?!?!?! Whoever sent me these…. A THOUSAND THANK YOU’s to you! You have no idea how much this made me smile! Buying extra scrappy stuff right now just isn’t an option for me so you can imagine how it made me feel to open up this package. No return address and only a sticky-note that said “Thanks for all you do to inspire us on your blog! Keep up the great work! Can’t wait to see what you do with these!”
How fun is that? I am in awe. Somedays it’s hard to see much human kindness and love in the world anymore. Even something as simple as a smile. Then when I least expect it…I am blown away by the love. Can’t wait to play with these! And thanks again… whoever you are.
Speaking of LOVE. I *heart* my husband. He. is. Amazing. I am seriously blessed. He would absolutely DIE if he knew I shared this sweet letter and cookies he left for my girls this morning but we won’t tell him right? That’s what he gets for only checking in on my blog every few weeks or so! LOL He left at 3am this morning to meet up with some of the guys at our church and head back down to the coast again. More serving the people and helping with relief efforts from hurricane Gustav. Saturday is a HUGE soccer day in our house with 5 girls playing so this was a sweet thing for him to do even though he will miss out. The girls were almost in tears as they read his note. It was really sweet. WE LOVE YOU BABE!
What else is going on!!!! Don’t forget to check in on all the fun over at Create My Keepsake!!! The Scrap Pink online crop is going on ALL WEEKEND!!!! The different challenges and projects that are being posted by the designers are AMAZING! I plan on playing along! So much good stuff! Get over there!!!! And did I mention all the prizes???
Okay… I will leave you with a couple of layouts I can share! The first one is this week’s sketch over at Triple the Sketch! I am truly going to miss designing for Patter but it will be fun to keep playing along when I can! Then the heritage layout is one I created using an old photo of my Grandma Jones & Grandpa Franklin when they were young and dating. This is my Dad’s mother and Father. This layout was inspired
by a challenge given by the talented Anabelle! Thanks for the push to use this photo girl! I have seriously been wanting to scrap this photo FOREVER!!!! Finally got it done! Webster’s Pages papers here. YUMMY!
Alrighty! I have lots of scrappy stuff I want to accomplish today and I might even squeeze in a Matinee with the girls to go see IGOR. Looks cute. Enjoy your weekend!

……..Is it just me or is this year whizzing by at the speed of sound???? I really can’t believe September is more than halfway over and I am already scheduling parent/teacher conferences at the kids’ schools. CRAZY!!! This weekend went by super-fast too. Seems like that’s what happens when we have a full soccer day with the girls. Macey/Kacie and Karlie/Cassidy had to be to the fields early on Saturday before their games to take team photographs. So OF COURSE I showed up with my camera too so I could sneak some shots in behind the “paid photograher”. LOL This shot of “Coach Shane” and his team lined up behind him waiting to take pictures will be an all-time favorite of mine. And I also had Macey & Kacie’s team stand-up for me to take a photo. Look at those faces will you???? Every last one of them smiling at me right on que! I was soooo happy going thru my pictures when I ran across this one. Bailee’s team only had practice this weekend but I plan on getting her a team photo as well. Two more games tonight! Fun! Fun!
So!!! I have some SUPER EXCITING FUN SCRAPPY NEWS TO SHARE!!! Guess what’s hitting the store shelves finally??? The October Scrapbook Trends!!! You know??? The one with my layout of Shane in there??? One of my online scrap-buds Lori emailed me a picture she took of it last week since I don’t have a copy in my hands yet! Thanks again girl! It’s truly exhilarating to see your own work in lights!!! Shane was excited for me but hates the photo I used of him. LOL I think he looks HANDSOME. Gotee and all!!!!
Okay… lots to do today! I have two parent/teacher conferences and two soccer games tonight. That means laundry to get through to clean uniforms again! That chore never ends does it? I survived my Sharing Time in Primary on Sunday, always a good thing! And we had a blast at the Ward Adult Murder/Mystery party on Friday night. I didn’t realize how many drama kings and queens we have in our ward! Hee hee! Too funny! I will leave you with a card I made just like the frame I shared a few weeks ago. I will be sticking this and a couple other cards/things in my ETSY shop today. I love the Holidays! I am working on some stuff for a super fun Halloween Decor feature on the Bo Bunny blog so keep an eye out for that coming soon! Have a great week everyone!

Another crazy soccer weekend ahead! Gearing up for that! But… first… tonight we get to head to our church for an “adult activity” where they are providing dinner and childcare. Um. Free meal and childcare??? I’m all in! It’s a murder mystery night. It sounds like a ton of fun. I was actually at the church late last night helping to set-up and decorate for the fun evening! Can’t wait! Okay… lots to do today. But I am also sharing my Triple The Sketch layout for this week. I am sending this to my sister so she can frame it for her family picture wall. She has these colors plus some tan going on in the family room. Anyhoo!!! Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!

I am sooooooo excited about these! ESPECIALLY that UNFORGETTABLE line!! LOVE the different black & white patterns. My MOST favorite color combo to work with EVER is red, black and white. In fact….
