In[s]piration Friday - Homework Helpers

HomeworkHelpers1Okay……In my own mind….I am a genius for this one. HA HA HA! YEAH RIGHT! Why didn’t I think of this before? This last week has been cRaZy around here but amidst the chaos I was able to work on this little “Homework Helpers” can. My mind has been wandering quite a bit lately about school starting soon and how all of my girls will be gone all day. I can’t believe my baby is going to be in school!!! She is soooooo excited! Mama is sooooo excited! LOL I didn’t used to be a “routine/schedule” type HomeworkHelpers3of person. My personality naturally resists it I think. But having kids in school has pretty much forced me to change that in some ways. It’s been good for me. One thing I was thinking about is homework. We have serious homework issues in our house which is what inspired this cute little can. My girls HATE homework. They are their Mother’s children. I swear some of the 3rd grade math problems gave me a headache last year. Not my strong suit. Ask me about English, Literature, History, Science, Art or PE and I am down! Not math. Okay….that was a tangent. Homework. Part of the HomeworkHelpers2problem we experience in our house is the “I can’t find a pencil” stalling technique. “I need a ruler Mom….where’s a ruler?” So an hour after they have been home from school already they are still roaming the house (so they say) looking for things needed to complete their homework! So…..the idea for this can was born. Maybe you have something like this in your house already. Maybe I am a dunce for not thinking of this before but I am excited and I know the girls will be too about keeping this nifty little helper stocked. No more chasing pencils down. It has a pencil sharpener in it too. I used the teal Karen Russell lined paper to cover a baby formula can. Then added the other goodies from Carolee’s Creations called School Memories. Now all I need to do is finish the back-to-school shopping! OY!

My kids do the same thing but my son actually looks for the stuff, he likes his math and science homework! Sicko I know! But it is a super cute idea and I think I am just going to have to do one! My kids definitely go through pencils like I have never seen, so it might work! Thanks for the inspiration!!!! Love it!
