Happy Lazy Sunday

What’s everyone up to today? It’s been a lazy Sunday here for me. My girls are in Alabama for the weekend hanging out with their dad at a cabin on a lake somewhere. His parents came through and picked the girls up on their way there. I guess they were touring different places in the South the last week or so. It worked out great and I didn’t have to drive to meet their Dad so you know I wasn’t complaining. The girls were sooooo excited to get to see their grandparents too! I’m normally at church on Sundays but stayed home today with Brody since he’s still too small to take. He would get breathed all over and touched and people will want to hold him and Momma’s not ready for that and neither is he. :) Plus little Karlie wasn’t feeling well so Shane left her with me while he and Kacie went to church. Poor girl.

So I am just hanging out. I did a little studying in my scriptures so I wouldn’t miss out on this week’s Sunday School lesson. It was good. Stuff I needed reminded of. I also read today’s writings in a book that is dear to my heart. I think this is my third year going through it. It’s called Stand A Little Taller by Gordon B. Hinckley. It’s a book that provides a daily scripture and President Hinckley’s thoughts on the subject. It’s never very long. Just inspiring, insightful and thought provoking. LOVE IT!

Today’s thought was “Happy in the Work” He comments that we should “Love the work. Don’t do it grudgingly. Smile about it. Be happy in doing your duty. Shape up and say your prayers. Everything will be all right.”

Wow…..I needed this today.

This total depressing funk I have been in has me focusing on all the negative. Feeling inadequate and unappreciated. It was a great reminder to change my attitude….to LOVE my job as a Mom and a homemaker. There’s no better or more important “WORK” in the world than to be a Mom. That old saying is so true… “if Mama ain’t happy…ain’t nobody happy”. ANd don’t forget to pray! Everything WILL be all right!

ProudPaparesize I was going through my photos today too so I can get scrapping again with some fresh stuff! Can’t wait! I ran across this one of Shane and his best friend Greg at the hospital. Look at Shane’s face. He’s so proud and happy to have little Brody here finally! This is one of my faves!

SweetBabyGirlCard I can share this card now that it’s been posted over at the Triple The Sketch blog. I’m loving these papers and cardstock stickers from Bo Bunny! I still love creating baby girl stuff even though I can actually do boy stuff now! Hee! Hee!

Okay…. one more thing I gotta share and ask you guys too! I was posting on the boards today over at Create My Keepsake and ran across their “Scrapbook Question of the Day”.

It is… What scrapbooking technique did you just never “get”?

QKPaperDollLayout 1I had to laugh cause I knew instantly what mine was. PAPER DOLLS!!! Remember those? LOL I could never for the life of me get into those! Then when I was on the 2006 QuicKutz design team of course they came out with some “paper doll” dies. LOL I CRINGED!!! I was required to make a layout and a card using them. UUUUUGGH!!! I don’t know what it is about them but we don’t get along. In fact….I need to EBAY those dies!!! HA HA HA!

I found that layout I did with the paperdoll! I actually only like it because of the photo of my sweet Macey. But the dolls…..they just creep me out.!

Okay……now that I typed out a book! Here’s that layout! Don’t laugh! Now it’s your turn!!! Tell me What scrapbook technique you just don’t get?!?!? Post it here and tell me. I haven’t done a fun RAK in a while…. I will draw a winner next Sunday from those who comment and send ya something fun! Maybe even those Paper Doll dies! ROFL…kidding!!!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! :)

Oooh, love that picture of Shane and Brody! Awesome! And love your paper doll too girl! :) :) As for me, it was the Paperkins though I never used them. I guess I didn’t like them then or now! Ha! And be sure you read the scripture challenge when I post it girl. I think it is something just for you this week! :) Hope you are doing better girl! Love ya!

Keep your chin up the new baby thing is always hard to figure out - no matter how many times you go thur it. I would say the scrapbooking technique I never got was when someone would cut the person out of the picture (removing the background). I just always thought it looked weird the times I have seen it done. Robyn

  3. Tracey Says:

Brody is just precious. What a great picture of him and his dad.

The technique I never “got” was tear bears. Actually, there are many, but those stand out in my mind.

Congrats again on that precious boy!!

  4. Teri Says:

    One word.

    SHAPES. *MAJOR cringe!*

If you ever need to discuss the baby blues (or deeper), just let me know. I suffered some massive baby blues and wish I had had the internet back then (20 years ago) to find out what was going on. ((((HUGS))))

  5. margaret Says:

I never got Magic Mesh. I’d see layouts with it, but just…..

Great picture of your little son; many blessings on your family.

  6. Martha Says:

Shane and Brody look so cute - both of them! I’m sure you miss your girls, but I’m glad you got a little quite time to concentrate on yourself and Brody. Have a great week Shanna! The technique I don’t get - probably the cutout heads with the hand sketched bodies - do you have any idea what I’m talking about???

  7. Ashley Harris Says:

Good for you for taking it easy! As for the technique, I could never get into beading on a layout. Just not my thang.

  8. Laura Says:

Much like the paperdolls, I didn’t ‘get’ paperkins. They were like cartoons for your scrapbook.
Love the pictures, thanks for sharing baby Brody with us.

  9. Maria from Norway Says:

I still can’t use eyelets.. I have tried a few times..and here’s still lying a few around just incase, but no I just don’t get why I should use them..

  10. lisa Says:

love your card! hang in there–it all gets better. what technique did i not get? doodling. can’t do it–won’t do it.

  11. meghan Says:

    I never got eyelets & ATC’s.
    Hate them!
    Hate them!
    Hate them!

Sorry you are in a funk.
    Me too.
I have decided my new best friend is Zoloft! It’s a wonderful thing.

    Shane looks very proud!
    As he should!!!

    Enjoy your little bundle!!!!

  12. Meghan Clausen Says:

    wonderful baby boy!!! congrats agian!!!
I could never get into tear bears.

  13. KarenB Says:

Love the pics!! What a proud daddy and gorgeous baby boy!!

I would say the one thing I’ve always wanted to do on layouts and cards is sew - I’ve never been able to get it “just right” and gave up. I faux stitch with pens and markers now but that is it!!!

  14. Casey Lu Says:

Sorry to hear your feeling a little blue. Yes, praying does help or at least it did for me. Stand Tall is a great inspirational book, everyone should have it! I am glad that you and Shane were blessed with a little boy! Yeah, you definitely don’t need to take him out for a while, keep him safe from all the colds and stuff going around this year(nothing wrong with keeping him all to yourself for a while)! ;)

I guess for me, the thing that I just don’t get would have to be the grunge painting on a layout.

  15. kaelene zapata Says:

Shanna, I’m glad to hear that you are turning to your scriptures and that excellent book by Pres. Hinckley . . . those will help in this emotional time.
I never got into beading or wire work on my pages . . . too complicated and tricky for my taste!
    We miss you!

  16. JulieG Says:

beautiful pix…such a proud papa and gorgeous baby! i must admit i don’t get the whole sticker craze (other than letters)!!

  17. Marti Says:

Shanna - the baby is absolutely gorgeous. Shane looks so happy holding him. Huge congrats to you and your family. Keep your chin up - those hormones can do some crazy things to our thoughts and moods. Hugs to you.

The technique I cannot embrace is doodling. I am horrible at it. It looks fine on OTHER people’s pages, but not mine.

  18. Kelly C. Says:

Glad to hear you & baby are doing well!
Sounds like you had a nice weekend!

  19. Mandi Says:

Sorry to hear about your baby blues…we had those at our house. Don’t know if it will help or not, but did you hear Elder Ballard’s talk from General Conference? If not, you should check it out. It put some things into perspective for me.
(Here’s a link so you don’t have to search for it:http://lds.org/conference/talk/display/0,5232,23-1-851-37,00.html)

On a different note…I totally don’t get the tear bear things…sounds like I’m not the only one either! I guess they are kinda cute on a baby layout or something, but I just don’t get it when they add Mickey ears and other junk to them…

  20. cassie Says:

I’ve yet to really get into chipboard on my pages. I’ve used it some but seems like a lot of effort to take a blah piece and decorate it. I’d rather just find something that’s already pretty!

  21. Sara Says:

What a great pic of your hubby with the baby!! You’ve got to be so excited to scrap boy pgs! Cute card–love the colors!!

I’ve never understood paper dolls & ATC’s. Just not my thing I guess.

  22. AZAnjanette Says:

GREAT post! I can’t believe all you do with a new baby. I think with both my kids, I didn’t do much except for sit on the couch and hold them for 3 months and then it was time to go back to work. LOL
    YOU ROCK GIRLFRIEND! :)

the scrapbook trend that I’m absolutely not good at is tearing. I try to tear and it looks like i should throw it in the trash. It never comes out the width i need it to be, it comes out more like confetti.

  23. Kine Says:

Haha, I remember those!! I still shiver when I think of them. *hugs*

  24. Kadee Says:

    What a cute baby card!

  25. Suzanne Says:

Hi there - I just stumbled across your blog through the many scrapping blogs that I visit. congrautlations on the baby boy and how exciting to have a little one again!!

For your question, the technique that I NEVER got was alcohol inks! I know many people use them on altered art, and metal embellishments but I’ve tried them once and I stained my hands for a week. I just don’t understand how people can handle such a mess for such a small affect. Thanks for reading and I look forward to comign back often! love your blog. =)
