2 more days of Freedom!

Does anyone else have mixed feelings about summer? That’s me! I am sooooo ready to have a much more relaxed schedule with the kids. Who doesn’t want to sleep in past 6am when it’s time to get up and get the kids off to school? But give me a week or two into summer and I might have a different opinion. It’s not that I don’t love having them around more…. it’s just trying to keep them occupied and busy and entertained that gets exhausting. LOL They will be visiting their Dad for several weeks throughout the summer though so I will be able to refuel my mommy entertaining energy. They are so excited. They look forward to the bug catching, park playing, swim-suit wearing, flip-flop wearing, popsicle eating, no hair combing days of summer. Me too. This will be our first summer here in Mississippi and look forward to what that brings….even the humidity.

TurtleIt’s already given us some interesting creatures. That’s been the strange thing to get used to here. There is soooooo much wildlife all around us all the time! We have squirrels that constantly run through our yards. We found this little guy on our porch this week. The girls were so excited to have a pet turtle. He only stuck around for a day and found a way out of the fence but I’m sure we will have more hard-shelled visitors soon enough. Then last Friday morning as Cassidy was looking out our arcadia door into the backyard she started screaming as her face turned ghost white, “Mommy!!! There’s a big rat in our back yard!!!” I ran over as fast as I could to see what the fuss was about but the creature disappeared quickly under the fence into our neighbor’s yard. Cassidy was terrified for a minute thinking we had big huge rats in our backyard but after she described it in more detail we figured out it was a possum she saw. I have yet to see one that isn’t spread out in the street as roadkill but I’m sure my turn is coming soon too! LOL And for my lovely friends who have already showered me with all the southern jokes and stereotypes…. NO! I won’t be grilling up possum around here for supper anytime soon :)

Hood1hood2And to share MORE creatures…. this house and lake you see pictured is a common thing here. The kids and I were driving thru the neighborhood across the street from ours where they have a lot more land and property. This house had the coolest lake next to it and some adorable little friends who call it home. I would have gotten a closer shot of the little ducklings or goslings….whatever they are… but the momma wasn’t havin’ it. She started hissing at me when I got too close and I got the hint.

PeaceCardTTS7AOkay…. I gotta get to the grocery store. But I thought I would leave you with my card that’s posted up at the Triple the Sketch site this week. Patter is an awesome Christian woman and wants us to include some sort of Faith-based message on at least one of our projects we turn in each month…so this is mine. I love the scripture on this and I LOVE the yummy BO BUNNY PAPERS I used on this! And ribbon!

Okay…. here’s to a great week! Ciao for now!

Oh dang! One more thing! For those who are peeking in for the first time in several weeks…I have started a blog specifically to track my weight-loss journey. I don’t have time now to do weekly scrapped cards about it like before….maybe here and there…but thought this would be good. It keeps me accountable. ANd it provides me added motivation when there are others out there with the same goals! Come play with me if ya want…..at FRUMPY to FABULOUS.

LOL - I know what you mean about the wildlife… we have squirrels in our yard in CO that live and breathe to torment my weiner dogs, LOL!

Dang! Look at the claws on that turtle. Yowza. And, I believe, that is a Canadian goose down your way. Interesting.

My girlies leave on June 2nd for 6 weeks and 5 days. Then I will have them and their brothers for a few weeks in July/August. Nothing like entertaining 2 teenage boys for 3 weeks. LOL

I had planned on walking this morning but I have one of those dreaded end-of-the-school-year colds. Maybe in a couple of days. For now, I can try and avoid bad foods. =)

    Beautiful card.

Haha- Canada Geese are not cute. They’re the midwests’ equivalent of pigeons. ;) They may be cute now, but with enough of them, they’re dirty and loud. I’m surprised you have them so far south…

    Love the card! Happy summer!
